  • Get a good night’s rest the night before, as the tour starts very early and requires energy.
  • Consult your doctor if you have health conditions sensitive to altitude, such as hypertension, asthma, or heart problems.

What to bring:

  • Original passport or ID (required for entry to Machu Picchu)
  • Sunscreen
  • Insect repellent
  • Water
  • Comfortable clothing
  • Rain poncho or plastic raincoat (rainy season, October to March).
  • Hat or sun cap.
  • Energy snacks (nuts, bars, chocolate).
  • Cash (tips, small purchases in towns).
  • Original passport (required for entry to Machu Picchu).
  • ISIC card (if you have a student discount).
  • Camera or cell phone with an external battery.

Other important recommendations:

  • Not recommended for people with respiratory or heart problems, or high blood pressure, unless they are very well controlled.
  • You don’t need to be a great athlete, but it’s best to be in moderate physical condition.
  • Respect nature and local communities: don’t leave trash, take rocks, or interfere with wildlife.
  • Be patient with the weather: it can change quickly. Although it’s sunny in Cusco, it can be windy, cold, or even snowy in Palcoyo.

An unforgettable experience in Salkantay with Marvelosu Peru I did the Salkantay trek with Marvelosu Peru, and the experience exceeded all my expectations. From day one, the team demonstrated admirable professionalism: punctual, organized, and always attentive to our needs. Our guide was excellent; he knew every detail of the trail, enthusiastically explained the history and culture, and was also concerned about everyone's pace and well-being.The food throughout the trek was surprisingly good, varied, and plentiful, something truly appreciated on a demanding hike like Salkantay. The accommodations and campsites were very well prepared, clean, and comfortable. The scenery is simply spectacular: turquoise lagoons, breathtaking mountains, and a complete connection with nature. Thanks to Marvelosu Peru, I was able to enjoy the trek safely and without worries.I wholeheartedly recommend this agency to anyone who wants to experience Salkantay in an authentic, well-organized, and expertly guided way. An experience I will never forget!

Salkantay and Machupicchu I booked my tour to Salkantay 4 months ago and it was a fantastic experience. From the organization everything was excellent. I arrived in Cusco, Peru, a day before the tour, and that same day we were given a brief explanation about how the adventure would unfold. The next day we were picked up promptly and visited the beautiful lagoon of Humantay. The food was super delicious, thanks to our chef Erik, quite a chef! The next morning, we woke up early and our guide was already ready to start the walk to Salkantay. The route was a little exhausting, but it was totally worth it for the scenery: stunning nature, unique flora and fauna. Finally, we arrived in Aguas Calientes to finish our visit with the impressive Machu Picchu. An unforgettable experience, 100% recommended

Better than we expected! A very different region from the others, very interesting to listen to and learn about the local history, are many pools that are there since the pre-Inca period, more than 3,000, and the most magical is that it keeps the income of hundreds of families for years and years.
